Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Director of Privacy will report to and work with the SVP Compliance of CoverMyMeds to lead or support key initiatives and provide oversight for a variety of privacy projects led by the Privacy Office. The Sr. Director role will also work with key stakeholders to understand and evaluate risk and quality privacy needs across the enterprise, develop the programs needed to drive privacy, and assist, support and monitor the implementation of the programs developed.

The Senior Director role also will work closely with other members of the CoverMyMeds compliance team, the Global Privacy Office, Information Security Risk Management, IT, Human Resources, Internal Audit, senior business leaders, and the Law department to drive privacy innovation, share leading practices/trends/thought leadership, and identify privacy opportunities and needs at McKesson.

The Senior Director role will operate under minimal supervision while serving as a key resource to the enterprise and will be responsible for many of the following:

  • Designing, revising, administering and implementing the privacy program for the CoverMyMeds business division.
  • Serve as a privacy subject matter expert to a variety of CoverMyMeds internal constituents.
  • Develop and maintain a library of privacy policies, training and communication programs to educate and update the workforce on Business Unit specific privacy requirements.
  • Stay abreast of new regulatory requirements, industry shifts and emerging health information technologies to build into the privacy program as appropriate.
  • Support the CoverMyMeds business division with ongoing risk assessment activities, analysis and corrective action.
  • Promote communication and knowledge sharing between and among other Business Unit privacy leads.
  • Work with various stakeholders to proactively identify and prioritize CoverMyMeds privacy strategy, governance and compliance needs.
  • Provide guidance to CoverMyMeds on the effective development and implementation of privacy controls.

Minimum Requirements

  • Total of 13+ years of professional work experience
  • At least 6+ years of people leadership experience

Critical Skills

  • Eight or more years of progressively increasing responsibility and experience in privacy
  • Knowledge of privacy frameworks and principles, and experience in privacy compliance programs
  • Strong team and people management skills and ability to manage, coach and mentor staff
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills, including the ability to communicate to all organizational levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate with minimal direction, using excellent judgment and professionalism to resolve issues and develop solutions, while juggling multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across many organizations at all levels
  • Ability to draft policy documents and translate regulatory requirements into practical and actionable elements
  • Strategic and analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills

Additional Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Courage to take difficult or unpopular positions when necessary to protect the company
  • Experience in a large, decentralized, multi-national company
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other similar business performance frameworks
  • Experience in health care, legal services and/or project services
  • Extremely organized

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preference given to those with technology, business, healthcare or legal background
  • CIPP certification desired
