McKesson is building an enterprise-wide, top tier global privacy program that will provide leadership in both the risk management and strategic opportunity aspects of data privacy. We want experienced privacy professionals who think strategically, execute tactically and build relationships with business partners in a collaborative environment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Director of Privacy will report to and work with the McKesson Privacy Officer to lead or support key initiatives and provide oversight for a variety of privacy projects led by the Privacy Office. The Sr. Director role will also work with key stakeholders to understand and evaluate risk and quality privacy needs across the enterprise, develop the programs needed to drive privacy, and assist, support and monitor the implementation of the programs developed.

The Senior Director role also will work closely with other members of the Privacy Office, Information Security Risk Management, IT, Human Resources, Internal Audit, senior business leaders, and the Law department to drive privacy innovation, share leading practices/trends/thought leadership, and identify privacy opportunities and needs at McKesson.

The Senior Director role will operate under minimal supervision while serving as a key resource to the enterprise and will be responsible for many of the following:

  • Support the Privacy Officer in program design, administration and implementation.
  • Serve as a privacy subject matter expert to a variety of internal constituents.
  • Develop and maintain a library of privacy policies, training and communication programs to educate and update the workforce on privacy requirements.
  • Identify privacy needs as they arise, share them with the Privacy Officer and other members of the Privacy Office and help design/implement enterprise solutions.
  • Stay abreast of new regulatory requirements, industry shifts and emerging health information technologies to build into the privacy program as appropriate.
  • Support Business Units with ongoing risk assessment activities, analysis and corrective action
  • Drive privacy initiatives for the corporate enterprise, as well as monitor adoption, impact and perception of the Privacy Office's efforts within the Business Units
  • Design, oversee and be accountable for large, complex, and sensitive corporate privacy initiatives including, but not limited to:
    • Training, including the development of role-based training
    • Privacy policies
    • Standard operating procedures
    • FAQs
    • Privacy assessments
    • Privacy requirements, metrics and maturity model development
    • Creating templates to assist with implementation and consistency and
  • Participate as the Privacy Office representative on certain company committees.
  • Promote communication and knowledge sharing between and among the Business Unit Compliance Officers.
  • Promote greater enterprise consistency around privacy activities where appropriate, while allowing for Business Unit specificity where consistency is not a premium
  • Work with various stakeholders to proactively identify and prioritize privacy strategy, governance and compliance needs
  • Provide guidance to Business Units on the effective development and implementation of privacy controls
  • Work with Business Units to ensure privacy program elements and documentation are consistent across the enterprise
  • Oversee the maintenance of enterprise privacy tools and ensure tools are available and accessible
  • Facilitate the creation of periodic privacy awareness communications

Minimum Requirements

  • Total of 13+ years of professional work experience
  • At least 6+ years of people leadership experience

Critical Skills

  • Eight or more years of progressively increasing responsibility and experience in privacy
  • Knowledge of privacy frameworks and principles, and experience in privacy compliance programs
  • Strong team and people management skills and ability to manage, coach and mentor staff
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills, including the ability to communicate to all organizational levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate with minimal direction, using excellent judgment and professionalism to resolve issues and develop solutions, while juggling multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across many organizations at all levels
  • Ability to draft policy documents and translate regulatory requirements into practical and actionable elements
  • Strategic and analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills

Additional Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Courage to take difficult or unpopular positions when necessary to protect the company
  • Experience in a large, decentralized, multi-national company
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other similar business performance frameworks
  • Experience in health care, legal services and/or project services
  • Extremely organized

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preference given to those with technology, business, healthcare or legal background
  • CIPP certification desired
