Job Summary: The operator controls the process, inspects products for quality conformance, and accurately records quality data using statistical process control.

Essential Functions:

1. Monitor belt conditions and transition points to minimize broken links and to ensure a smooth transition. Notify the lead maintenance supervisor or manager if equipment needs adjustments or repairs

2. Properly set up bags and load batter and breading machines ensuring the outer layer of bags areremoved prior to dumping in machines and placing the empty bags in the trash

3. Performs sanitation of equipment using chemicals and assists with change over of equipment, ensuring all lock-out and tag-out procedures are followed

4. Operates appropriate material handling equipment, if necessary such as forklift/pallet jacks in a safe and orderly manner in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries

5. Ensures that material handling equipment is maintained (daily inspection) and clean; reports repair or service needs to lead and Line Mechanic in an effort to reduce equipment damage

6. Complies with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations and policies (i.e. OSHA, HACCP, AIB, etc.)

7. Troubleshoot problems as they arise and make appropriate adjustments to correct the problem

8. Follows plant food safety policies and industry best practices

Additional Responsibilities:

Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Experience/Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Work Environment:

While in this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); and regularly will work near moving mechanical parts; be regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and be at regular risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee will frequently work in high, precarious places. The employee will occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level for this job is loud.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements of this job include the following freqently: standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel. Frequently reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing. The employee must be able to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Finally, the employee will frequently be required to talk, hear, taste and smell. Peripheral vision (the ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point) is required for the job. The employee will regularly have to lift over 50 pounds.

Mental Activities:

While performing duties of this job the employee will frequently engage in teamwork. The employee will occasionally be required to use interpersonal and customer service skills. The employee will occasionally need to speak and read English.
