Assistant Professor, School of Social Work

The Georgia State University (GSU) School of Social Work invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the School of Social Work to start fall 2024. This is an academic year position, with possible summer teaching opportunities. This is an opportunity to join a collegial School that values collaboration and teamwork.

Duties: The position focuses on teaching primarily in the MSW program, including our online part-time program. Teaching areas of particular interest include clinical content with a mental health and/or health focus. It is expected that this individual will engage in scholarship and funded research, as well as service activities within the School, the University, profession, and the community.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess an MSW and a doctorate in social work or closely related field. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong research capacity and the potential to generate external research funding. The successful applicant should have at least two years of post-MSW practice experience, preferably clinically focused. Previous teaching experience with online teaching is desired. Evidence of an ability to contribute to the goals of the Georgia State University Strategic Plan (https://strategic.gsu.edu/) and to community engagement and outreach is essential.
 
School and Campus: The School of Social Work offers dynamic programs in Atlanta, Georgia and has both a strong research driven faculty and a strong, impressive record of external funding. The School is host to the National Center on Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (with Western Michigan University). The School offers the BSW program (in-person & online) and the MSW program (full-time in-person, part-time online, and Advanced Standing in-person & online). Both programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education through 2028.
